Charna Cassell: [00:00:00] Welcome back to LaidOPEN podcast. I'm your host, Charna Cassell, and as we're approaching Valentine's Day.
This is a special episode to invite you more deeply into yourself and in your in relationship to your ancestors and to your own daily practices and rituals and relationship to gratitude. And so today my guest is Christine Olivia Hernandez. She's the author of, "Remember Your Roots," the Mayan Oracle Deck, and several children's books.
She's a Mayan astrologer, a cacao, ceremonialist, and spiritual guide. And we do a little of something that I've never done before, which is she does, she gives me a mini reading on this episode. So if you're curious about, me, but also, learning about if you've ever looked at a Mayan astrology chart or calendar and [00:01:00] wanted to understand more about the symbols and the numbers and all that, and, understand how it could relate to you and what a reading might sound like or look like, and how it could be useful for you to understand your own dharma and purpose.
In this world, you'll get a little taste of it and you'll also get to learn more about cacao and daily practice. So welcome Christine
[00:02:00]
Charna Cassell: So I'm excited to talk about, there's so many different things and you have your book that you've written, which is "Remembering Your Roots", which gives a really good context for all the different things that you bring as healing tools for yourself as well as for your client base. And so right now, can you, can you tell me a little bit about like, what your personal practice looks like in terms of, you know, you've, you've, you pull from so many different resources, but what, how does that integrate into your daily life?
Christina Hernandez: So, yeah, I think the most important thing for, for my practice and what I wanna share with everybody here is, is gratitude, which is a huge staple within all indigenous cultures, which means in all of [00:03:00] our you know, ancestral roots, we all had ancestors that practice gratitude as a form of reciprocity for all that we were receiving, right within the scene and in the unseen.
And so that's the, the biggest thing, and that's a huge thread within the book is, is gratitude and how important it's to feel into gratitude for everything. For the smallest of things, right? But opening your day with gratitude, feeling into gratitude. So that's one of my practices is first thing upon waking, what am I grateful for in the moment?
Right, so the bed, i'm laying on the roof over my tread, the warmth I feel the comfort or whatever it is, or the excitement for that day, just feeling into gratitude for a few things and then going from that place. But again, I throw it in throughout my, my entire day and feel to share with my partner and express.
And yeah, it's just a really important practice for my life. I love sharing with people. The word Maltiox Maltiox [00:04:00] means gratitude. It means thank you, and it's a deeply felt. Experience, not just a simple thank you. And it's an ancient word from the Chu Maya. And so I share that with you because ancient words hold frequency, right?
A different frequency than just a simple thank you. And it's almost like a
Thanksgiving, the Maya, we think from our hearts to the heart. So thanks, knowing that spirit. Everything, everything is alive. And so it's just a really beautiful word that I wanna share with everyone who's listening so that they can work with it in their own daily practice.
And, you know, when they're having their beautiful rituals in the morning, they can bring it in and just you
into mac and let that expand you and be felt as an expression so that you can become the
embodiment of gratitude. And the book is, "Remember Your Roots", just if anyone's looking in up, it's "Remember Your Roots", just so they know the full title.
"Remember Your Roots". Yeah.
Charna Cassell: When, when you say, Maltiox, do you suggest [00:05:00] that people chant it or just say the, say it once and feel into it. Like, you know, when you're, when you're doing some kind of chant or mantra and you can feel the vibration and you do it, you know, 108 times or 216 times. Yeah.
Et cetera.
Christina Hernandez: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's a beautiful question. I like to open with the Maltiox when I'm doing like a ceremony and I close with three and we say it together.
So if you're, if you are listening to this, there's a free guide on my website and it includes a free cacao ceremony, how to create your own cacao ceremony and ritual, and then it gives you a free Mayan
meditation a free Maltiox Mayan meditation. And so in there I'm saying Maltiox many times. And giving thanks to all things. And so, that's how you'll feel, kind like the, the mantra of this. Then from there it's like, yeah. You know, make it your own and see how it feels with you. And you
wanna sing it, you know, as well.
Charna Cassell: What's really important about that, [00:06:00] it's the difference between just speaking something or thinking of something conceptually and thinking like, okay, so how do I then, when I'm laying in my bed and I'm feeling the softness of my sheets, and I'm feeling the gratitude for the person next to me, or I'm feeling petting my dog, or whatever, the thing that generates gratitude for you, bringing your body into it, right?
Yeah. It's like, what's the experience of it viscerally?
Christina Hernandez: And, and also I wanna speak to the fact that there are things that we are facing right now and have been so many challenges, so many hardships, you know,
there's
so much chaos happening and it can maybe be difficult or seem hard to do. And the Maya, you know, we give thanks for all things.
Even the challenges, even the hardships, even the most. Difficult experiences that you've ever been through, because those have allowed for you to learn, for you to grow, for you to understand how truly, how capable you are, right? To really know the light [00:07:00] within you when you're in the darkness and surrounded by darkness.
It's like, that is how you know how to be the light in dark times. Is, is through that, that cultivation and feeling into gratitude for all things because all of it got you to where you are now and yeah, again, able to be your most magical, most powerful, most vibrant
self. So, yeah, you know, even if it feels like it's really difficult, you can still hold two things at once.
You can feel into grief and you can feel into gratitude.
You can feel into bold. But allow yourself to expand into that gratitude and, and feel it in your heart because you are still living your greeting and you've been gift. Right. This gift of life. So there's much to be great for.
Charna Cassell: Yeah, there's that. The, in holding the complexity of two contradictory at the same time, it's such a potent meditation to do, to, to be like, I can feel [00:08:00] calm and I feel anxiety. And it's like, where in the body do you feel each of those things and, and you know, main maintaining acceptance and allowance of both so that it's not like I'm gonna deny this, which just has it grow more intensely and, and, you know, spiritually bypass the fear that's ever present right now.
And, you know, for some people for decades, not just the right now. The other, the other thing that you said that is, is this piece of, you know, if you're dealing with a challenge right now that feels. So Dysregulating, being able to look at like 10 years ago, what would I have, how would I have responded to that?
And being able to hold the, the fact that like, you, you most likely, there's been some evolution, right? Like you, you know, it's, I can appreciate that about myself, like dealing with really hard situations right now. Being like, this would've taken [00:09:00] me out and I actually would've slept badly, but somehow I could even wake up with anxiety.
But I am able to to sleep, and that's profound for me.
Are there, are there any particular practices that. You recommend or that you're engaging with around protection and grounding in the face of fear and the face of what's happening, like globally because there's a lot of revolutionary energy that's moving and
it's gonna unsettle a lot of people. And so how to hold both?
Christina Hernandez: Yeah. I think it's always important for us to get outside being on the earth, connecting to the land, literally hugging trees, knowing that trees can support us and they give so much to us, right? Not just air and oxygen, but like literally you receive oxytocin when you cog a tree. So if you feel like you're [00:10:00] lonely also and fearful, it's like hug a tree.
'cause they have actual like, support to give to you in the moment. But when it comes to your rituals or when you are traveling or just being on the lands in which you walk upon, calling in guardians and protectors of those lands is really important so that you can feel supported and safe in your space.
But especially when you're opening up sacred space and doing healing work and feeling open and vulnerable, right? You want to do that to make sure you are calling in those and that support and giving gratitude, right? Giving thanks, right? Not just what can you take, but what can you also give in reciprocity in return, knowing that this a relationship that you can build.
But there are spirits and on all of the lands in which we walk upon, and so it's important to recognize that and know that. And then with everything happening and the energetics, it's like you wanna ask for a little support because you belong to so much beauty and so much [00:11:00] magic around you, and they're there to support you and, you know, hold you.
And so, also welcoming in your unconditionally loving ancestors, you guides and things. But, but literally just taking time to connect with your body and your breath. And if there's great to be felt, then, then feel it and let it move through you and out of you. You don't need to hold onto it. Allow yourself to let go of the burdens and the heaviness that doesn't need to sit in the body.
You can give it right, you can do different practices that give it to the earth and the earth can support you in turning that into fertilizer for your growth and your evolution. She can handle it. 'Cause she makes medicine out of it and supports you and your healing You. You're not meant to hold all of that.
It's not for you. It makes us ill when we do hold onto things. So those are some of the practices.
Charna Cassell: Yeah. Remembering that there's something bigger than you that can support you.
[00:12:00] So important.
And you're also pointing to the value of micro practices, right? So throughout your day, it doesn't have to be that you, you know, spend a whole big day in ritual, which that's great if you can do that.
There are these, you know, you can create sacred moments throughout your day.
Yeah. And you get to ask for support. And also the different allies around. So we talked about ancestors, spirit guides
Christina Hernandez: Mm-hmm. Too, but the plant allies, right? And this is something I love talking about on podcasts is cacao because of how healing it is, how supported it is that unconditional loving frequency that cacao has, that grandmother essence and wic.
The way the world is and our nervous systems, we need more gentle yet consciousness shifting plants to support us to remember who we are, to come into our hearts, to support us, and that connection to the earth, to the ancestors, different aspects of ourselves as well.
And we don't need really [00:13:00] intense plants. And there are so many plant medicines out there that are getting a lot of attention. And unless you're in the jungle and you plan on living in the jungle for a while so that you can integrate those really intense experiences for the nervous system, then you shouldn't be doing them. , It's um, very serious thing.
And yet some people do need them. Sure. But you can do beautiful plant medicines that are gentle, like the cacao. That is a progressive. It is, it is a gentle process. The more you work with it, the more you feel, the more you expand. Yeah. It's, it's. Beautiful and profound, and that's why it, it shifted my life. It changed my life, and so I share it with everyone that I come into contact with. And we all know what chocolate is. We all have chocolate. It's lovely. And already you can feel that little frequency of love. But when you have it in its pure essence, in pure form, you are taking in plant medicine that has been used for thousands of years by the ancestors, the Maya and the Ika, and the all meccas [00:14:00] before all of them.
And they used it for shamanic purposes, for ceremonial purposes, for everything between life and death. It was considered gold. It was even used as currency as at one point. It is called Food of the Gods. It's the translation of cacao. So it is beautiful. It is a spiritual aid, as super food.
And it's not a psychedelic, so that's awesome. It's like you're gonna feel expansive and euphoric and magical, but you're not gonna like see things and hallucinate and it's not gonna, it doesn't need to be this intense process for us to be supported in our healing and, and feeling that unconditional love as well.
Charna Cassell: Right. You, so you could go and go to a cacao ceremony or you could also start your day and have every morning be, it could be a ritual in heart expansion and being able to set up your orientation to how you wanna receive your day and what you wanna create that day.
Christina Hernandez: Yeah.
Coming into heart center and so I source cacao, it's called, [00:15:00] somalux cacao. And I can give you guys a discount code and stuff so people can try it. But it comes in granulated from like already chopped up or you can get like the block piece. It's very simple process. You chop it up, you put some hot water, you put some natural sweetener, maybe some cinnamon. And I like to add a little. Milk to it, coconut milk. Don't use dairy 'cause that will mess with it.
When you have it like that, you have the living enzymes and the healing properties within it that keep it alive. Okay? And then you can create your own ritual at home. And if you're wanting to do a daily process of like working with it, you can do a teaspoon day. If you're wanting to have a full ceremonial dose, it's two table spoons. And that's gonna like, you know, you're gonna feel more there and welcome the experience of, of feeling deeply. Sometimes you may feel giggles or tears or sweat, and
that's supporting and releasing and making space, letting go. And from there you start to feel into deep gratitude.
It's like you make space so that you can manifest [00:16:00] and magnetize the light that you want for yourself. More magic, more beauty, more things you want to embody, you know?
Charna Cassell: Can you clarify two things? You started to say that dairy would mess with it. So if you could say a little bit more about that.
And then the other thing that I think is important, because, you know, at least in the Bay area where I am, like cacao is a big thing and you know, and people where you purchase it from matters. And if you could speak to that in terms of how it's harvested the quality where you're getting it, and you know who, who you're giving your money to, all the things
Christina Hernandez: Oh yeah. Oh, let's start with that. Yeah. Ceremonial cacao is completely different from, you know, even just organic cacao from the, the, the grocery store because of the frequency it carries, right? You're getting, if you're sourcing from me it is coming from Guatemala in Mexico and it is being prepared ceremonially, which means there's intention behind it.
There's thoughtfulness, there are literal blessings and [00:17:00] prayers, right? Going into the cacao and the way that it is prepared and made. Can
do the ceremony yourself. So it's already vibrating at a different frequency. And you're supporting the Mayan people where this is where the medicine comes from. This is, you know, where it originates from A lot of cacao that is commercialized, that maybe like the nibs are things, they're coming from Africa where there is literal slave trade or you know, child slavery and the children are working on the cacao. It is not the same, you know, and we don't wanna support that at all.
We wanna make sure you're getting cacao that like where it
comes from.
There are yeah, so many beautiful ceremonial grade cacaos and that's what you wanna look for. And it's the difference between having like, you know, your grandmother make you a beautiful chicken noodle soup or something versus like eating fast food.
So that's difference. It's always so fascinating how science proves things when we already like know it. But, but there's a [00:18:00] science behind fact that like the milk, dairy milk is not a good mix for the plant, which it would make, it makes sense to me and it's hard to explain, but you know, if you're using, if you're using coconut milk, it's another plant ally if you think about it coming it together to support you with that. But if you're taking the milk, it's just, it's not a good mix. And it does something, it mixes it and you're not gonna have the same effect. So just, just leave it out unless you want hot chocolate and you really want raw milk and you're getting it in like the purest form, sure..
But I would just try almond milk, coconut milk, pretty many different
types of nut milks you can do. And it's gonna taste amazing. It can taste like a hot chocolate, but you will still experience the beautiful benefits of the ceremonial grade cacao.
Charna Cassell: And, and what other components? I mean, I, you've already, you've, you've named a number of things, but if somebody was starting their day in ritual and intentionally drinking their cacao, [00:19:00] what other steps or intentions or rituals could they add to it?
Christina Hernandez: Woo. It can go in so many different directions 'cause it opens your heart. And so it's like, allow yourself to intuitively go where you wanna go with it. So there are so many beautiful healing properties. There's nutrients and vitamins and antioxidants, even bigger powerhouse and blueberries. But there are, you know, there's anandamide, which is the bliss molecule.
There are PAs and maos that support your serotonin and your dopamine levels. And so it's very foric. People call it an aphrodisiac for a reason because you feel so beautiful. So good. So it's beautiful for so many different things. I'm gonna go into to. Pleasure practices, for instance. Let's talk about that right?
For yourself. Because today the energy of today is about sexuality. It's also about teaching. It's about wisdom in the mind sacred calendar.
And then notice what comes through. Because if you sit with it long enough, you're gonna notice, oh, this feels [00:20:00] really good.
And you can start to, you know, it can be as simple as touching your skin because you're gonna feel more in the body. Like, let it feel good as you touch your skin. If you're touching your face or your arms, or. Your breasts or whatever that's gonna look like. Yeah, that's a really beautiful practice or get movement in Right.
Dance, let that feel good. So many, so many ways in which you can go. ,
Charna Cassell: So you, you started to mention like the the day today in, in the Mayan calendar. Yeah. And so you're also a, a Mayan astrologer. Yeah. Right. So you, so you do readings for people. And so how much does that, or is that, I'm
imagining
then you have this daily relationship to the Mayan calendar, and then that also informs like you're braiding that into, as you just illustrated into your use of cacao.
Christina Hernandez: Yeah, of course you can do it with cacao. I don't drink cacao every single day. Have gone through [00:21:00] periods of that, but yeah, absolutely. If you're going to create a ritual, I mean, I suggest to everybody feel into the energy every single day of what it is because we are so used to the Gregorian calendar, which is a distortion of time.
Mm-hmm. And when you're working with the mind sacred calendar, you're coming into real time. Time is, it is alive. And it is sacred. It is, it is beautiful. It's living. And so when you're working with it you're coming into connection with source. You're coming into connection with your soul's essence. So it's really beautiful and important for us to come into sacred times.
So yeah. Every day you wanna just notice what is, what is the energy of today. And so, that's, that's important. Then also, it's very important to know the energy that you come in with. Because every single day
has a unique energy. Okay. But the Chol Q'ij, the Mayan Sacred Calendar, and this is a 260 day calendar, like the gestation period of a human, and it's made up of 20 nahuales, which are 20 unique energies [00:22:00] that come together with 13 cycles to make 216 unique days and energies. And so it's like the calendar already knows you. And so every time I'm doing these ratings, it's just confirmation of who you know yourself to be.
Yeah. And sometimes we just need to remember but it supports us in understanding like soul's purpose. What comes easy to us, what challenges we will face, and how we can also be supported to the collective, like understanding that we're part of the great web of life and that we are all interconnected.
But yeah, it's, it's so fascinating how incredible the calendar is. And just for context, like the, the calendars. Are so incredible and the most accurate calendars in human history. Okay. We have the long count calendar, which was marking 5,125 years and can predict the solstice and equinoxes for thousands of years in advance.
Then you have the hop calendar, which is an agricultural calendar, and then we have the [00:23:00] sacred Mayan calendar. These all interconnect like a Swiss block, by the way. It's mind blowing. But the Maya were incredible astronomers and mathematicians and scientists and spiritual risks, and they did not put them into boxes.
They all like weave together and work together. That's why it's called cosmology, not just astrology. Whereas astrology impacts like the personality. Right. This is understanding cosmology, it's understanding who you are, on a cellular level and how you move within the web of life. So yeah, the energy of today is five con.
So the snake is con, it's the serpent and that is life force energy. So beautiful day to work on connecting with 'cause of the five. This is represents work, work on connecting with your sexual energy, your life force energy and just knowing that this is just power. It is power in the body. Those of us who are teachers and leaders and have a lot of energy and are showing up.
[00:24:00] It just, just know that means we have a lot of sexual energy and we can
use it
in order for it to be beneficial to us and to the collective, for us to be good teachers. And it can go the other way as well. When we work with it to benefit us to do good yeah, it could be. The wisest of energies and like the most powerful of energies ever. So it's really a beautiful energy to play with today and work with today.
Charna Cassell: Yeah. I'm very concerned in the world with the abuse of power and the abuse of, of our vital energy.
And you see it so often where, and it's like one of the deepest wounding places when a spiritual teacher abuses their, their power and like assaults their followers or students. And there's so, I mean, there's so much of that that's that's very present in and coming outta the shadows and, and that we're talking about right now.
And, and it's an interesting thing I think especially if you've, if [00:25:00] you've had a history of sexual trauma. How to not just heal on, on a sexual level, but how to be able to stand in your power and not be a afraid of like, well, becoming somebody who abuses their power. Right. Even if that's not part of your personality, because it's something that, it's like, if you fully allow that energy to move through your system, what, you know, what, what will happen?
And I think that that's, I work with a, with a lot of sexual healing with people. And so this is something, this is a big fear for people. It's like, what will happen if I actually allow my vitality to fully move through me.
Christina Hernandez: Oh, fascinating. Yeah. That's so interesting. I think it's so essential for us to work with that because it's where our power resides.
It's like in the root and sacral and it like flows from there. I think that's why we see. Then again, the people, the leaders, all of [00:26:00] those who have a lot of energy that are like showing up that, or that speak out or, or even that, that are on the opposite and distorted and, and use it to, to take advantage of vulnerable people.
It's like all of them have a lot of sexual energy. They all do, but it just depends on how they're wielding it, how they're using it. That's why we need to talk about it, because it's like, it is the most natural thing and it also is like where the power is like held, I feel.
Yeah. I'd love to hear if there's anything more you wanna share about it, because it's like such a fun topic. Yeah.
Charna Cassell: Yeah. I mean, it's an interesting, for me, for me personally, when I look at, you know that there, there's just been so many teachers that, that the, one of the questions I sit with is, are sociopaths made or is this how they, they come into being? Right. So is it that they're opening to these big energies like spiritual teachers?
Like, John of God, do you know what I'm talking about? You know what I'm talking about? He was a teacher in Brazil, who then it [00:27:00] was revealed that he was abusing
the people that were coming to him for healing. But I'm just,
there's just endless, there are so many people you could name, but, but what I wonder about is when people open to bigger energies and there are these energies that are very healing resources that are coming through their systems, that are assisting, potentially assisting them in healing other people and themselves, and being wise and you know, being connected to something so much bigger than them.
I mean. What you may also open to, which are, are darker energies
and so, so that's one thing and that's kind of, so it's kind of like, did this person start out on a path with goodness and, and good intention in their heart, or did they start out on this path and they're just really good at masking and leading 'cause they're so compelling because sexual energy is also a very seductive energy and a vibrant, alive energy that we wanna like [00:28:00] come close to.
And then as they grow in power, they abuse their power even more.
Christina Hernandez: I think it's that. I think it's the later for sure.
yeah, I, I really have seen that. And I think it begins at a, I think it yeah, begins at a younger age and experience, but also there are, there can be entities and I think where people do open up to different, they're calling in, they want, they wanna, they want the wisdom from this archangel or that, and it's like, I think when they open up to different entities you can be receiving a lot because it just feeds the ego.
And it could be anybody saying they're this thing when, like we talked about it already. There are many spirits all over these land, and they're gonna tell you what they want some at times. Right. So be careful for what you're bringing in. And I think the only thing that we should actually be channeling is source itself, like directly so that there isn't any of that confusion, because I've just seen a lot of people where they really believe [00:29:00] they're channeling the Galactic federation and this and that, and really it's. Them channeling entities and it is feeding their ego and it sounds really cool and fun and things, and it's, it's, it's so distorted and it's bullshit. So that's what I've seen.
Charna Cassell: It's also scary. I mean, you, you, you touched on it briefly, but just as, so in the Bay Area, just as there are lots of cacao ceremonies being offered by lots of people that I don't know how they're holding the cacao.
Same thing with other kinds of medicine. Yeah. And that with more accessibility and it's great that people are interested in expanding their
consciousness, which my hope is ultimately it expands their heart and their connection to the globe and to all living beings seen and unseen in terms of, you know, for the betterment of everyone.
There's also a lot of people holding space that don't have [00:30:00] the skill and training and tools to protect people from things that are coming in and through. And, and they may not even know their own limitations, and they may not know how porous the people they're working with are. And that, that's a concern that I have for people.
Christina Hernandez: Oh, absolutely. It's like I, it's also why we need to have discernment ourselves so that we're not going to these things because you, you're opening up and becoming very vulnerable or already going into it very vulnerable and then opening up. Right. And it's like there are, people are dealing with a lot of different things and so you wanna go to a space that really feels like it's held with integrity. And there are a lot of people Yeah.
Holding ceremony and cacao ceremonies all over that are not, so, discernment is going to be key because that is a thing and it's like. And if you do happen to go to one there, you don't, you don't need to have fear. Remember to call in your guides, your protectors again, your guardians cast a circle of light around, [00:31:00] you know that you hold that power and you're incredibly Yeah.
Protected and loved and guided and supported. And so they can't, you know, touch you or affect you.
But
yeah, it's like holding the paradox, knowing you need to have discernment and if you end up in a situation. Yeah. Right.
Charna Cassell: that comes back to this piece of, you know, even if something really goes off the rails, like let's say you do a different medicine and it's really intense and it's not held well and whatever happens that happens, I mean, it's an interesting thing to go like, okay, so here's this, here's this challenge.
Yeah, exactly. For, for us to look at like, okay, it went the way it did. What do I get to learn about that? What do I get to learn about my own discernment? What do I get to learn about? Like, yeah, there's a lot.
Christina Hernandez: That's exactly, that's such a good point. It's like, what did it, what, what has this taught me? Right.
And then from there, there it's like, that's how I have learned to serve, but not in an easy way. Not because somebody else told me to do it. It's like I actually had to learn it through that horrible experience.
And I think, and I hope that [00:32:00] I've shared it so many times now that not everybody has to go through the dark
Yeah.
experience. But sometimes we do in order to learn. Once again, it brings us back to gratitude for everything that we have experienced, because it got us to where we are now wiser, you know?
Charna Cassell: Yeah. There's, there's so much. And you know, you, it's, it's kind of like in, in terms of dating, right? Like, you, you don't always, you, you get to what you, you, you know, being able to identify what you want by experiencing what you don't want. And you're like, oh, that really crystallized or clarified that. And the same thing around like sovereignty and boundaries often, you know, we learn to develop a stronger sense of ourselves through the process of boundaries being crossed. Right, exactly. And that's where then we can become not just for ourselves, but become good teachers for others around that.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Hence our dharma. So coming full circle, back to Mayan [00:33:00] astrology I'm, I'm very interested in earth-based spiritualities, right? And so relationship to plants and animals so regarding Mayan astrology and the use of working with the different elements in rituals, can you speak to the power of when you might wanna use water versus fire, et cetera? I, no, I won't go into the rituals because, well, first of all, I'm an initiate and I don't wanna talk about the rituals quite yet.
So maybe we can just go into more of the calendar, which is the readings that I do, not so much the ritual, but we can go over your your crafts. Oh, okay. 'cause I looked it up just a bit. We can like kind of go into it to
share
Christina Hernandez: like what it looks like. But yeah, let's do that instead.
Okay. Okay. All right. So I looked up your Tree of Life and your Mayan [00:34:00] sign. Your main energy that you came in with is four Q'anil , right? So the rabbit, which I think you already knew, and the number four represents like the four pillars of life.
Four directions, the four elements. And it represents stability and, and bringing things through into like the physical. Q'anil, the rabbit, is also represents like gold. It is the corn, which is like gold to the Maya, right? Mm-hmm. It's sacred and it is so beautiful and it like gold. So it is a very abundant energy and very like prosperous energy.
Very favorable energy is what you carry. What I have seen, I have a friend, she was Q'anil, as well, and so very successful in many different ways. Very abundant, very prosperous. And so what is important is she receives so much it's important for her and will be important for you to [00:35:00] make sure you give, give back in different ways so you stay in that balance.
Because it can become almost like yeah, on the negative side, it become like just keeping, or what is it called? Not hor hor kind of. Holding on. Yeah. Thin, like stingy. Like scarcity, like a miser. Scrooge. I think of Scrooge. Yeah, like the gold. I just see like a huge pile of corn or gold in the back and it's like, no, we gotta make sure we keep the flow going and moving.
And that does not just make, you know, shopping, it means to give to others in different ways. And I've just, I've seen that from just other Q'anils and like very successful once again. But needing to stay in that beautiful flow and that beautiful balance. She has a different number than you, yours being four is a favorable number, which is supportive.
And again, it's like, I imagine you have beautiful concepts like maybe then an [00:36:00] entrepreneur or whatever ways like able to bring things into the physical to create that
Charna Cassell: stability, to
Christina Hernandez: create that abundance. That's what your main is again, Q'anil. And then the way the Tree of Life works is we go into your conception and this is what I'm looking at, which is kind of cool.
And I will send you my website when Oh, thank you. But this is like conception. Is this an app
Charna Cassell: that you've created that you're looking at?
I'm working on, yeah.
Congrat. That's so exciting.
Sorry, it's not app, it's just the website.
Okay. Oh, okay, okay.
Still, yeah, it's really exciting. And then you see the left and the right side.
'cause I just wanna clarify. This will be a website where not only people can book sessions, but that they can go to learn and read information about their charts.
Christina Hernandez: Yeah, exactly. So you can get like your mini reading, right? And so I can, yeah, I'll send you yours and you'll be able to see, okay, here's my conception, here's my future, [00:37:00] eldership destiny, my masculine, my feminine side. It's going to just give you, it's gonna show you that, then it's gonna give you more details about your main sign. But if you want a full reading right, then you would go through, through me, which is not just diving into all of that. It's also divination and it's also ceremony, right?
We create ceremony, call in the directions. We call in the elements. It is a felt experience.
Can I clarify something else?
Yeah.
Charna Cassell: So in terms of stability, which is a very interesting word for me and what
sometimes what I find interesting about, about like Chinese astrology, for instance, like I'm a wood tiger. And when I had a reading from about, about that, one of the things that said was like, you know, you really like, you probably like to sleep alone. You like your space and et cetera. And so what was so interesting is the way astrology can. De pathologize so we can go, oh, I could pathologize myself because of trauma.
I like my space, or like to [00:38:00] sleep alone, in that phase of my life. But at the same time, it's like, oh no, this was in your chart. This is part of who you came in as.
And so the thing was this stability. What's interesting is my spine is a divine rod and it's constantly like my things always go out.
So stability, longing for manifesting physical stability is, has been a path, like my physical body has been my spiritual teacher for decades. This been a process. So when I think it's so interesting that you're looking at it and you're reading it like financial stability. And I think of it as like in physical form, how to have a more stable, like energetic as well as structural existence.
And so if you could speak to that, you're looking at it or is it just that it's actually like, oh, there's the strength here.
Christina Hernandez: Yes, that's in my system that maybe trauma lays on top of, and that's a distraction, but the capacity to build an [00:39:00] empire or whatever lives Exactly that. Exactly that. Because the four is it's stability in, in all senses, right?
But it is in combination with kaeo, which represents that success, that abundance. That's beautiful. But regardless, it's like stability, feeling stability within the body, in the physical grounds is what that four represents. And so it's like, okay if I'm not feeling that well, let me lean into this energy that literally is me to remember that I am stable.
Right. That's the cool thing about it is just recognizing like. Well, it is there and we can lean into it. And then you have other energies that you can lean into when you need the support to remember again what you carry. So do you want me to go into a little bit of all of it?
Charna Cassell: Yeah, sure. I'm totally open to that and I, I'm gonna send, I'll send and I, yeah, I just think it's useful rather than speaking about something conceptually,
like
Christina Hernandez: having the, you know, having an example. so let's go into conception, which is around your [00:40:00] childhood.
It represents the energy that was there around childhood. Like it can represent your relationship with your parents or past lives too. Yours is nine I'x. And so I see that as like in past lives you were probably a medicine person and many a times, most likely a woman often because nine represents the divine feminine.
I'x is the most shamanic of all of the nahuals, it is the sun. You've probably been through many challenges as well because the sun has to go through the darkness in order to shine, right? Mm-hmm. So I'm I'x so I know I'x very, very well. So, it's very magical and it means there's a lot going on there.
Did you wanna add anything?
Charna Cassell: So what, the other thing around that that's really interesting is, is who are the people that I end up, I'm, I do this, I mean, my, my podcast
Somehow I end up meeting the, just the right people. It's a very interesting process I'm going through. I kind of take it as a spiritual path, and so i'll meet, I'm a projector in, [00:41:00] in the human design stuff, and so I just like be care. Okay. So, right, so, so it's just, I, I had somebody on and I'm a five one and she was a projector five, one. I'm just like. It, it's, I know we're talking a bunch of jargon for people who are like, what are you guys talking about?
But clearly the right person's gonna listen to this episode. That I appreciate the synchronicities of it and that I, that there's these
resonant
energies that are drawing us to be in these conversations. The thing that I'm particularly interested in is the multiverse and, or people call it past lives either way.
And experiencing those lives in this timeline is something that I have navigated. And I wonder if that's something specific to other people who are l'x have that in their chart that's something you've visceral, you see and you feel?
Oh, I love that. Have you experienced that? Have, do you feel like that's been very present for you in this [00:42:00] lifetime? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, and I think, I think people who hold that one probably do. And oh, also, just depending on what is there for conception, that's gonna come up a lot. Right.
I would mention another one, like, which is transformation or death.
Christina Hernandez: It's like that person has had many past lives and they were leaders and, and yeah. Like bridges between the unseen, the, the scene, and so they can Yeah. Feel into those past lives a lot. Right. Within this lifetime.
Is l'x Jaguar, or, that's totally separate, so, okay. Okay. What's really cool about Yeah.
Is is like what you were saying, it's like we're reflections, right? And it's like we're bringing in people that you're seeing something in me that you liked because it's something that reflects. You really, it's like we're all just mirrors of each other. And it's really beautiful to see. I have l'x you have that in your conception.
You have, oh my God. Whoa. That's cool. Wait, oh my God. You have 10 ish, 10 Jaguar in your [00:43:00] feminine and I have 10 Jaguar in my masculine. Okay. Not having, but you can tell me. Amazing. You have Jaguar. First of all, just to have Jaguar in your chart is like so magical because what it represents like I mean, Jaguar is the guardian of the mother and the protector, and she's here to, you know, speak for and stand up for the mother as well as all of the sentient means all children, right?
She is the light in the darkness, in the chaos, right? She, she's able to move through the underworld, through the shadows and the darkness because she is the light and she's fierce love. She's and the magician, the magic. And so that is 10. Which represents community. So it's like, no wonder you bring people together.
I do the same as well. You do that though on your feminine side, like your artistic side, your creative side. And so I imagine you bring a lot of women together because it's on the feminine side, and that's very supportive for the women. And then me, I [00:44:00] have mine on my masculine side, so I bring kind of a mix together even more so.
But on your masculine side, yours is 11. E 11 represents the bridging between Past, Present and Future eek is the voice. It is the hummingbird and the voice and the power of the voice. And so it's like men and women, all people, because this is your outward facing appearance. Some people perceive you, they see you as a powerful speaker.
No wonder you have a podcast. It's like very obvious. You work. So that's really cool to see it. So obvious. What I have to say is really funny. So years ago for I, for years I led an embodied sexuality group for women. But right now I'm leading and it, I, I revised my groups 'cause I just, with my male clients, I just saw that there was a certain need for certain kinds of support that I was referring them out and I, they just were still not getting that support in men's groups.
And so I decided I'm going to, you know, I'm gonna start a group again and it's a [00:45:00] co-ed group, but it's mostly men and it's such a beautiful gift for me to get to support these incredibly tender sweet men in this way. And so I'm love, I'm loving that, but it's a very different thing. Than running women's groups.
So it's interesting. Yeah. Yeah. And, and you know, seeing that it's like, well, I imagine you're speaking very powerfully to their inner feminine 'cause it's like we all have the masculine feminine, so it's just recognizing you're bringing people together and you can really impact and be a leader and a guardian to the inner feminine within all of us.
So, 'cause the 10 represents two hands coming together, like the, it's like commuting, reworking together. Okay. And then the last thing, let's go into your elder share, which is 12 Ajmaq. Well, okay, so here's the thing. You're already feeling into 12 Ajmaq. There is another energy that comes after that, but I didn't map it out. And just so you know,
there's another one that you come into, but the next one, or that you're feeling into now is 12 Ajmaq. 12 represents the weaving [00:46:00] together of all like's experience in combination with Ajmaq. Ajmaq, the animal guardian that it is, is the bee. And what it is, is really, it's about forgiveness.
It's really the art of forgiveness, which then leads to liberation. So that's what you are, are in and are gonna feel the strongest at the age of 52. And then after 52, you come into something else. So, and because it's a high number, the number 12, right? It's higher than your mean, it means that it impacts you in a strong way.
Yeah. So that's, that's all you really need to know when it comes to what, what you're feeling into.
Your year Lord is kahn, it is cat, which is so funny because I keep seeing kahn in your chart, but I'm like, wait, where is it?
In the chart? It is, but what's crazy is, years ago I had a wild synchronicity with my astrology. Really spoke to the relationship of embodied sexuality and that Yeah. And this was like over, you know, maybe 15 or [00:47:00] more years ago that I saw that.
Oh, it's with Ena. It's your, yeah, yeah. It's there that, so there's a 13 day cycle. It's in kahn That's why I'm like, I know, I've, I, I just felt it in you and obviously with the work you do, I'm like, why am I not seeing it? It's, it's there, it's there. Then with your, with your year lore that the year you were born, it's the spiritual guide, so we're seeing everything, you know, with the work you do play out.
And so that, that's been my experience. I feel very grateful that I, like, whenever I get readings, I'm like, oh, I'm on my path. I'm doing, I'm doing my, you know, my dharma is very clear and I'm, I'm in it. And, but So if someone came to you and they got a reading and they, they weren't seeing as much of that yet, then what, how do you, how do you work with them to guide them to have them use this as a map?
Exactly. So, so that can happen. It's, it's obviously more rare because most people are like, already in work. Like, they're like, they're the ones getting the reading. [00:48:00] Yeah. Most time. But there are definitely some cases and it's just a matter of, okay, well, you know, you haven't had discipline, you haven't had discipline, you haven't had your practices.
It is very easy, easy to be forgetful. And so, you know, you already know the, the, they already know that they've been off. They wanna be told something that'll just like fix it. Sometimes those, those types. And so it's just a matter of recognizing, like it's just a practice. It just takes practice. It is actually, you know, simple, but it isn't easy and it's just a practice.
And the more you start to practice and come into coming into sacred time, creating ritual in the morning, the more you're going to feel it. It'll be visceral and it'll be gnosis right in the body knowing. But it just, it just takes a little discipline and it takes some devotion to the path. So, yeah, when that happens, it is kind of more rare though.
Recommitting to yourself, oting yourself, and knowing you're worth your time and your commitment in that. Yeah. And, and if you're off the path and you just come back on it and it just [00:49:00] remember that life is a spiral and this process is, you know, it is in a circle. It's not linear. You're not meant to be a to be over here.
And so be easy on yourself as well.
Charna Cassell: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it's definitely a spiral. And sometimes a hurricane. we'd Or what are what? Not a hurricane. We have such decent weather here besides fires. What is the twister called? Not a hurricane.
Christina Hernandez: Oh, tornado.
Charna Cassell: Tornado.
That's what I was trying to get at.
Christina Hernandez: Yeah.
Yeah.
Charna Cassell: Is there a practice that you would like to guide our listeners through that could be a useful way for them to connect more deeply with themselves and their own intuition or inner guidance or grounding? Anything that comes to mind for you right now?
Christina Hernandez: Yeah, sure. Let's let's do it. Let's close our eyes and very simply come into breathing [00:50:00] into the body and just noticing how the breath brings you into your body and heart. And so breathing into your radiant heart.
You can feel, sense or see the light within your heart that comes from you, this beautiful healing light, and maybe it's glowing in a rainbow of different colors, pink or red or green.
And just notice that light will down and through your energy centers, your chakras, moving down and through the root and into the soil, the earth beneath you to connect [00:51:00] with the very core of the earth,
the heart of the earth, from their breathing in her energy, her unconditional love and support. Feeling that energy of the mother moving up into your channel, your root, your energy centers into your heart ing with your heart. It's energy, and then feeling the energy from the heart of the cosmos moving down and through your crown. And third eye, throat and into your heart.
Merging with your heart center, breathing [00:52:00] into your heart, feeling yourself as the merging between the mother and the father, the heart of the earth, and heart of the sky.
Feeling yourself asked. That anchor of light here on earth, that anchor of light, that merging between these two divine forces, not as who you are. And so feeling gratitude and you can bring your hands in front of your heart so that your thumb touches your heart ceiling. That beautiful connection. And closing with Maltiox, we could do three Maltioxes.
[00:53:00] Maltiox.
Charna Cassell: Thank you
Christina Hernandez: All right, well let's, we'll wrap it up. But thank you so much.
