Energy Medicine To Reclaim the Space in and Around You

Red flower

Most people know about my training in working with sexuality, trauma, and somatics. I am also trained in energy medicine. I approach embodiment, presence, and healing by working physically, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically.

Often, the energetic component is neglected in a traditional therapy office. Chronic fatigue and mysterious health issues were my original reason for studying energy medicine. Initially, I was focused on regaining my vitality by learning to run my energy differently. I learned to access and give from an endless supply rather than believing I had to draw from my limited physical resources alone.

This was the beginning of deciphering what my energy versus someone else’s energy feels like when I come in contact with it. One of my primary somatic teachers, who is also an Aikido master, taught me the principle energy follows intention and attention. I got to apply this in a very visual and concrete way through the daily meditations I learned at Psychic Horizons, which I have built off over time. I saw and felt immediate results through physical symptoms and relationship shifts. Ready to be done with an old pattern, I’d clear an ex out of my space, and a message would be waiting from him by the end of my meditation because somehow he’d felt the shift, too.

I learned to be present with what was occurring when I turned my attention inward and to develop the power to direct where my focus went. A by-product of doing daily chakra clear-outs was it helped increase my intuition and self-trust. I was clear enough to hear, see, and receive comically accurate information. I would giggle to myself in sessions with clients because I knew what they were about to say before they said it. C-PTSD decimates self-trust and trust of others, and this was a delightful path back to myself.

Energy medicine is an invaluable process for reclaiming your physical body and the space in and around you. Polarization, feelings of powerlessness, and fear are ratcheting up due to politics in the US, war in the Middle East, and climate chaos. We need extra good energy hygiene.

We are often more impacted than we realize. Part of the time, these feelings belong to us. Often, we don’t realize how much energetic debris we carry for family members and friends that influences our perceptions, our state of mind, and our experience in the world.

When people go into worry, fear, and judgment, their energy moves into the space between the eyebrows at the front of their forehead. This is visible from the outside, often by a furrowed brow.

There are so many things we can judge and be fearful about in the world, and viewing situations from a more neutral place is essential in not feeling overwhelmed or reactive all the time. Beyond seeing things more clearly, it also helps you protect yourself from other people’s energy and emotions. When we go into fear, we become more vulnerable to being energetically impacted by collective fear, which often lands in the physical body in the form of physical symptoms.

At this point in my life, I use my body as a pendulum and ask it what is in my highest best and act in alignment rather than make decisions purely from my head or from worry. But you can’t ask your body for guidance and use it accurately as a pendulum if you can’t go into neutrality and ground.
